Cross, who also was active in sports, was named Academic All State in football. The salutatorian also was an active Beta Club member.
Like Heer, Cross was enrolled in dual credit courses, getting a leg up on college classes as well as high school credit. He plans to study engineering at Texas A&M University.
"They both were great students and well-liked by their peers and teachers," said Judy Jones, high school counselor.
Heer and Cross, along with the other members of their high school class, will be honored with commencement exercises at 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, in the school gymnasium.
