Sulphur Springs Public Library kicks off summer reading program on June 3

From Staff Reports

May 29, 2008 - Hey, kids. Looking for something to do after school lets out?

The Sulphur Springs Public Library, in cooperation with the Texas State Library, will kick off its annual Summer Reading Program on Tuesday, June 3, with the first of the season's events beginning at 1 p.m.

"This year, Texas State Library and Archives Commission is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the 'Texas Reading Club Jubilee: 1958-2008,'" said Cheryl Lawson, director of library services for the city of Sulphur Springs. "Thanks to our wonderful sponsors, the Golden K Kiwanis, we will be encouraging children to explore the world of reading with enthusiasm and discover how much joy a good book can bring.

"When it comes to celebrations at the library, we want the community to know that this is a time for cheer, goodwill and a great story!"

The weekly programs will be held on Tuesdays through June 17 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. A community 'read-in' is also scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, from noon to 2 p.m. at the library.

The Sulphur Springs Public Library is located at 611 North Davis Street.
