In Memoriam: Congressman Hall to join in Friday's Memorial Day program at courthouse

May 22, 2008 - Hopkins County Military Coalition and the Veterans Memorial Committee will host a Memorial Day presentation on the steps of the Hopkins County Courthouse Friday, May 23, beginning at 10 a.m.
Students from Sulphur Springs Middle School and Early Childhood Learning Center will participate in the displaying of flags around the downtown square tomorrow morning as well as entertain the community with patriotic music.
USAF Ret. Lt.Col. Art Romanat, the master of ceremonies, will give the welcome and introduce Veterans Memorial Committee Chairman Clayton McGraw, who will give the invocation, followed by ECLC students singing patriotic songs.
Hopkins County Judge Cletis Millsap will then read a public proclamation as the Middle School band prepares to play two selections for the crowd.
U.S. Rep. Ralph Hall will give the keynote address, speaking on the importance of Memorial Day.
Everyone is invited to attend and encouraged to thank a veteran for the freedoms they have fought for and helped provide to the citizens of the United States of America.
Also participating in the event will be members of the VFW, American Legion and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
