8th grader Rebecca Sehnert wins overall best project at Region 8 Science Fair
From Staff Reports
May 14, 2008 - A Sulphur Springs Middle School eighth grader went home from the Region 8 Science Fair with a trophy naming her project the best of the best.
Rebecca Sehnert's entry was named the overall best project at the science fair featuring the top fourth through eighth grade projects in the region.
Sehnert's project, "Which Propeller is Most Efficient," was picked from among all first place projects from grades 4-8 in both biological and physical/chemical categories as the best overall project at the Mount Pleasant meet May 7.
Of course, it probably didn't hurt that she could use her dad's knowledge of airplanes as a springboard for the project.
"She's a very interesting and intelligent girl," said Michelle Blackmon with SSMS. "Her dad builds airplanes for a living, so she really does understand the whole concept of propeller efficiency. It's WAY over my head."
Her project about propeller efficiency included a battery activated propeller, as well as a board full of data and charts.
