From Staff Reports

June 19, 2008 - The Hopkins County Dairy Festival carnival's opening Wednesday was canceled by inclement weather, but the folks at Triple T Amusements were putting the finishing touches on their rides and games this morning and expected to be able to open tonight as scheduled.

Carnival workers said this morning they are proceeding with plans to open the show this evening. The carnival is slated to begin operating at 5 p.m. today. The carnival is scheduled to be open through Sunday, weather permitting, while the rest of the Dairy Festival events come to a close on Saturday.

The final day will begin with the Northeast Texas Livestock Association's Junior Dairy Show at 10 a.m. at the Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Arena. At the same time in the Exhibit Hall, the Dairy Foods Contest will be held.

Saturday's events will culminate in the Dairy Festival Pageant and the crowning of a new Dairy Fest Queen.

The pageant is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the Civic Center Audioritum.
