June 18, 2008 - Sulphur Springs Independent School District hired an academic specialist for the high school to replace the person who was named to the principal's post at an elementary campus.

The SSISD Board of Trustees approved Glenda Wright to replace Kristin Monk at Sulphur Springs High School as academic specialist. Monk was appointed at an earlier board meeting to serve as principal at Travis Elementary.

Wright comes to Sulphur Springs from Plano East, where she held a similar position.

She and her husband had previously purchased an older home in Winnsboro which they've been "fixing up." About a year ago her husband relocated his law office to Winnsboro, where they now reside.

Wright had previously indicated to Sulphur Springs school officials that she was interested in finding employment in her field in the area. When the academic specialist position became available, her information was reviewed, and administrators recommended she be offered the position.

"We think this will work real well for us and her, too," SSISD Superintendent Patsy Bolton said Wednesday.
