June 17, 2008 - A 25-year-old Campbell man died Monday afternoon as a result of a fatal crash on Interstate 30 west in Weaver, according to Texas Department of Public Safety reports.
Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Ronny Glossup pronounced Anthony Allen Hall, a Campbell truck driver, dead at the scene at 2:20 p.m. Monday. The body was sent to the medical examiner's office in Dallas for autopsy.
Hall reportedly was traveling west on Interstate 30 in Weaver at 1:50 p.m. Monday in 2001 Dodge Neon. As he crested a hill near the 136 mile marker, the Neon's brakes locked up. He steered the car left. It struck the concrete barrier, Hall lost control of the car, which swerved to the right, where a disabled 1998 dodge pickup connected to a 2008 trailer were parked on the shoulder. The Neon struck the rear of the truck and trailer unit, causing extensive damage to the driver's side of Hall's truck, according to the crash report by Texas DPS Trooper Joe Hogue, who was assisted by Troopers Bill Reese and Brandon Stribling.
When authorities were notified, another motorist reported that the person in the car, later identified as Hall, was unresponsive, according to sheriff's reports. Once officials confirmed the man dead, Glossup was called to the scene.
Hopkins County Sheriff's Cpl. Dennis Findley and Sgt. Victor Cosme also assisted at the scene with traffic direction as that section of the interstate had to be shut down while crews worked at the scene. Hopkins County firefighters also were dispatched.
