June 9, 2008 - Sulphur Springs results on the 2007-2008 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests and the Texas Primary Reading Inventory tests will be presented to the school board during tonight's regular monthly board meeting which begins at 6 p.m. in the board room of Sulphur Springs Independent School District Administration Building.
The data should include a basic breakdown by grade level on the percent of students passing reading/English language arts, writing, math science and social tests. Under each grade the state percentages, as well as how students did by race and special populations will be listed.
Also, the board will receive information regarding first and second graders' results on TPRI tests. The figures will be broken down by campus and grade level, showing the number of students reading at instructional level compared to the number of students tested, with bilingual students figures noted in a separate pull out, as well as the number of students reading at the recommended fluency rate at the end of the year. The data should also show how students did at the beginning of the year then at the end of the year.
Administrators are also slated to report on the bevy of summer activities slated throughout the district and grants which have been submitted or are to be submitted. A schedule of credit by examination test dates will be presented.
School officials are also slated to discuss how the track project at the high school is progressing as well as a "45 day contract release."
Aside from the routine paying of the bills, tax credits and supplements, tax collections and investment reports, which are to be approved under motion as part of the consent agenda, the board will be asked to consider action on three items.
Trustees will be asked to approve a contract service agreement with Region VIII Education Service Center for the 2008-2009 school year, "applicant designation and certification form" for Title I services, and a shared services agreement with Greenville Regional Day School Program for the Deaf.
