June 4, 2008 - Sulphur Bluff Independent School District selected Robert Ross as the finalist for superintendent earlier this week.
Ross, currently superintendent of Olfen Independent School District in Rowena, will replace Ricky Beadles, "who has elected to return to his former position as principal of Celeste High School," according to SBISD Board of Trustees President Ronny Caldwell.
"The Board of Trustees wishes to express gratitude to Mr. Beadles for the dedication and commitment he has shown for Sulphur Bluff and its students this past year. We regret his decision to return to Celeste, but certainly respect his career goal of returning to an educational role that places him in closer contact with students and their immediate needs on a day-by-day basis. He will be missed at Sulphur Bluff, but the board wishes him great success in this endeavor," Caldwell stated in a formal announcement letter Tuesday.
The school board concluded its search for a superintendent Monday night. Ross cannot assume duties as superintendent for 21 days, the state's mandatory waiting period. Ross should begin working at SBISD at the end of June.
Ross has 19 years of experience in administration, serving as principal at all levels from elementary to middle school and high school at small rural school systems and middle-sized districts.
"The board looks forward to a long and productive relationship with Mr. Ross," Caldwell stated. "His experience in rural areas as well as mid-size districts uniquely qualifies Mr. Ross for the top spot at Sulphur Bluff."
