County GOP hosting Monday forum for primary candidates
From Staff Reports
Feb. 17, 2007 - The slate of Republican Party candidates on the upcoming March 4 primary ballot will get a chance to voice their stands at a forum scheduled for Monday evening.
The Hopkins County Republican Party is hosting the President's Day Republican Forum at the Hopkins County Civic Center on Monday, Feb. 18. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and the candidates will begin their speeches at 6:30 p.m.
"We invite and encourage everyone to attend," said Chris Brown, chairman of the Hopkins County Republican Party. "Each of these candidates has a heart for our service and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to earn our votes."
Those candidates running on the Republican Party ticket who have confirmed their attendance include:
n Precinct 1 Hopkins County Commissioner: Beth Wisenbaker (incumbent), and Will Woods
n Precinct 3 Hopkins County Commissioner: Ron Reed, Philip Anderson
n Hopkins County Sheriff: Norman Sanders
n 62nd Judicial District Judge: Erwin Cain
n Eighth Judicial District Judge: Robert Newsom (incumbent)
n State Representative, District 3: Kirby Hollingsworth
n U.S. House of Representatives, District 4: Ralph Hall (incumbent), Gene Christensen, Kevin George and Kathy Seei
Each candidate will be introduced with a short biography and then given about 5 minutes to present their platforms.
The main focus of the forum is to allow the candidates time to shake hands and meet with the voters, so Republican Party officials want to leave ample time following the speeches for individuals to meet the candidates and ask questions one-on-one.
Cookies, coffee and cold drinks will be served.
