Absences due to illness force Cumby school closing

Feb. 13, 2008 - No one was available at Cumby ISD's administrative office Wednesday to offer information about a trustees election, but that wasn't the only area of the school that was empty.

Classes at Cumby school have been canceled through Friday due to the high number of absences from illness, according to information posted on the school's web site.

All Cumby school activities and classes will resume at the regularly scheduled time Monday, Feb. 18. Valentine's parties were also canceled as a result, but students who wish to bring goodies or valentines for their classmates will be allowed to do so on Monday. Also, the Ident-A-Kid program that was to be held has been re-scheduled for March 7.

Two of the make-up days will be the bad weather days. CISD officials are applying to Texas Education Agency for a waiver request for the third day so it won't have to be made up.
