Feb. 12, 2008 - So far, only one of the two incumbents whose terms on Sulphur Springs Independent School District's board of trustees had filed for reelection as of late Tuesday morning.
Jacqueline H. Brice handed in her application for reelection to a third term on the board Tuesday.
The other seat on SSISD's board is currently held by long-time educator Jack Chubb. While Chubb had not filed for reelection Tuesday, he indicated to school officials that he is strongly considering running for second term on the board.
Filing for the two seats on SSISD's board began Monday and will continue weekdays through March 10. Applications are available from and may be returned to election officer Judy Gregg in the school tax office, located in the Administration Building at 631 Connally St. Filing will be conducted during regular business hours.
Should more than two people file, the two individuals receiving the most votes will be elected to serve on the board.
The election will be held at SSISD Administration Building on May 10, with early voting to be conducted April 28-May 6 during regular business hours at Sulphur Springs Municipal Building, 125 South Davis St.
In order to be eligible to run, individuals must reside within the boundaries of SSISD, be at least 18 years of age and must not have been convicted of any felony offenses.
