Continuing education classes offered for cops, counselors and social workers

August 26, 2008 - A series of training seminars will be hosted in September at New Beginnings Church. Five sessions offer law enforcement, social workers and license professional and chemical dependency counselors opportunities to obtain continuing education credits.
The seminars run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, in the activities center at New Beginnings Fellowship Church, located behind Hopkins County Sheriff's Office on the east at 155 North Jackson St.
Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAAS) and First Service Alcohol and Drug Education Program are putting on the education selections, with support from the local district attorney's office.
A $20 per person fee will be charged if registration is made in advance, or $25 per person late registration at the door. To register, simply mail the registrant's name, e-mail address and payment to First Service Alcohol and Drug Education Program, P.O. Box 1351, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482. Payment should be in the form of a check, money order or cashier's check; receipts will be provided at the seminar. Also, please provide names of all individuals from the organization that will be in attendance, if sending for multiple individuals.
CEUs may be obtained for TCLEOSE, LPC, LCDC and social workers who attend the following seminars: Drug Facilitated Sexual Assault; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Sexual Victims; Crisis Intervention and Victimology; Acquaintance Rape: Betrayal of Trust; and Understanding Female Sex Offenders (ex. Mary Kay LeTourneau, Debbie LaFave, and others).
