August 13, 2008 - Some local teen-agers' plans for a little mischief hit a snag after they were spotted on the side of the highway by a Hopkins County Sheriff's deputy early this morning.

Someone contacted the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office about 3 a.m., saying that five to six males had been on the side of the road on State Highway 19 south, all naked.

Sgt. Todd Evans was sent to check out the report, and found five juveniles, all indeed nude.

"Apparently they were out 'streaking' beside the road," Chief Deputy Rickey Morgan said this morning.

Evans reported that the five teens, all between the ages of 12 and 16, "scattered" when he pulled up in his patrol car.

"Todd said they went over a barbed wire fence -- slowly," Morgan added.

The five were brought back to the sheriff's office, where their parents were contacted to come and pick them up.

Morgan said that no charges were filed.

"They were just kids out having fun," he said.
