August 12, 2008 - Como-Pickton Consolidated Independent School District Board of Trustees consider approving an increase in pay for substitute teachers, and gate and scorekeepers, as well as hold a budget work session during its regular August meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the high school library.
Administrators are proposing increasing the pay to $50 for non-certified subs, $55 for degreed subs, $60 for certified subs and $80 a day for long-term subs, according to Assistant Superintendent Lydia Walden.
For more information, potential subs should contact Walden at 903-488-3671, ext. 3210
Other financial matters the board will be asked to consider approving are an increase in the mileage rate, a proposed tax rate, and a date for a public meeting to adopt a budget and tax rate.
C-P's board, according to the agency, will also be asked to consider: repeal of previously adopted policies and adoption of local policies as recommended by Texas Association of School Boards Policy Services, the district vision and goals plan discussed and formulated during a previous board meeting, budget amendments, retainer of Schwartz and Eichelbaum as school legal council, out-of-state trip for FFA Convention, a board activity calendar, an agreement with Upper East Texas Tech-Prep and an employee handbook.
Among the superintendent's reports will be information about the TASB Conference, accountability ratings for the C-P and Holy Highway campuses, and an overview of site-based committee meetings from last year.
At the end of the meeting, school trustees will convene in executive session to discuss any resignations and recommendations for employment. Following the closed session, the board will reconvene to vote on resignations and hirings, and to consider approval of maternity leave for a teacher.
