C-P board ready to tackle budget in earnest Tuesday
From Staff Reports
August 3, 2008 - Trustees for Como-Pickton schools will start hammering out the coming year's budget next week.
On Tuesday, the school board will assemble in the C-P High School Library at 6 p.m. for a budget work session.
To aid them in preparations, including the complicated formula Texas officials devised that school districts must follow in order to qualify for state funding, Region 8 Education Service Center consultant Fred Wilkerson will conduct a workshop at the school. Wilkerson also conducted a budget workshop at Como-Pickton during the previous school year, explaining how certain figures and funds are plugged into the "formula," and what the pay-out on the separate budget functions or accounts was expected to be for the 2007-2008 school year. He also showed what funds were used and where they were required to be used where, and for what purposes.
School officials indicate the financial outlook at C-P appears to be improving.
The budget workshop meeting is open to the public.
