TAKS tests slated for May 2 rescheduled for April 28-May 1
From Staff Reports
April 24, 2008 - Sulphur Springs Independent School District has again been approved by the Texas Education Agency to hold state testing on days different from the state schedule.
Alternate tests slated for May 2 for the Texas Assesment of Knowledge and Skills, or TAKS, may now be held on four other days as requested by the school district, according to SSISD testing coordinator Betty Lawson.
The district calendar originally designated May 2 as a staff preparation day and student holiday. Those dates were set before TEA released its schedule for TAKS testing.
The district requested that Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills tests slated for May 2 be administered on four alternate days, Monday, April 28, through Thursday, May 1.
The tests will affect only students of Sulphur Springs High School, Sulphur Springs Middle School, Douglas Intermediate School, and students required to take exit level retests.
The exit level social studies retest will now be administered on Monday, April 28. Eighth grade and exit level social studies tests are now scheduled for Tuesday, April 29. The 10th grade social studies test will be administered on Wednesday, April 30. On Thursday, May 1, the fifth and eighth grade language arts tests and the 10th grade science test will be administered.
No tests will be given on May 2, as it will remain a student holiday.
