SSHS band gets top marks in tune-up for UIL area contest

By Charles McCauley | SSHS Band Director

Oct 23, 2007 - The Sulphur Springs High School Band earned First Division ratings in all categories Saturday at the Parkway Marching Contest in Bossier City, La.

The band also placed fourth in the overall rankings.

SSHS was one of only four at the contest to earn First Division, or superior, ratings in all categories.

The band earned the ratings in music performance, marching performance, general effect and percussion. The Sulphur Springs group recently earned all First Division ratings at the UIL Region IV Marching Contest in Mount Pleasant.

That performance earned the band the right to advance to the UIL Area C Marching Contest in Mesquite. The band will perform at 1 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 27, at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
