TAKS Exit Level retests set Oct. 22-25 at SSHS
From Staff Reports
Oct 17, 2007 - Four sessions will be held next week for current SSHS seniors as well as former students who have yet to pass the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills Exit Level tests.
Monday, Oct. 22, has been designated for students needing to retest in social studies, while the English/language arts will be administered Tuesday, mathematics on Wednesday and science on Thursday.
While the Texas Education Agency calendar designates Oct. 26 as the date for the social studies retest, that exit test will be held on Monday due to a conflict with Sulphur Springs Independent School District’s calendar. TEA has approved the date change to Monday, Oct. 22, due to the staff preparation day and student holiday.
All TAKS Exit Level retests will begin promptly at 8:10 a.m. on the designated day in the Media Room at Sulphur Springs High School.
The test is open to current 12th grade students at Sulphur springs High School who have not met the passing standard for all sections of the test, as well as for former students who have not passed all sections of TAKS Exit tests but have completed all other graduation requirements and are not currently enrolled in high school.
Current high school seniors are pre-registered for the test. Their parents will receive notification from high school counselors this week. Those in the out-of-school category can pre-register by calling Jerry Tittle, counselor at SSHS, at 903-885-2158, ext. 262.
While pre-registration is recommended, registration will be accepted on the day of the test.
Study guides are available for tests, and Tittle encourages all “examinees” to review the materials before testing day so the material is fresh on their minds.
