Oct 16, 2007 - A 30-year-old man was taken into custody on felony drug charges after law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his residence on the west side of Sulphur Springs Monday morning.
Jason D. Givens was arrested for possession of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams of a controlled substance with intent to deliver after the officers seized cocaine and drug paraphernalia found in the home on Woodside Lane in the Woodbridge Crossing addition.
The search warrant was obtained after several weeks of investigation provided enough information to issue the authorization.
The Special Response Team and Special Crimes Unit investigators served the warrant at 8:40 a.m.
The search turned up nine small plastic bags of powder cocaine hidden in the arm rest of a 1999 four-door Cadillac parked in the garage. The nine bags of cocaine weighed 7.6 grams
Further search inside the house turned up digital scales and plastic bags like those used to package narcotics. The items were found behind a dresser in the master bedroom of the Woodside Lane residence, according to SCU Sgt. Harold McClure, the case agent.
After his arrest, Givens was taken to the county jail, where he was found to be wanted in Rockwall for violation of probation, according to police reports.
Officers seized the cocaine and paraphernalia and anticipate filing paperwork this week to seize the Cadillac. A video camera in another vehicle and an empty safe were also taken, and pending further investigation could be seized.
A woman and child were also at the residence when the search warrant was executed. The woman is not being charged with anything at this time in connection with the case, McClure said.
