Local woman, 21, dies from injuries sustained in ATV crash

Oct 15, 2007 - A Hopkins County woman died over the weekend as a result of a crash on an all-terrain vehicle on Saturday.
Pamela Pence, 21, died Sunday morning at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, where she was flown Saturday night for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
Few details were available Monday morning on the crash, which occurred Saturday night in Miller Grove.
Emergency dispatchers were notified at 8:03 p.m. that a woman had been injured in a four-wheeler wreck on County Road 1127.
EMS personnel and firefighters attended the woman, who was on the four-wheeler with a family member at the time of the crash. The emergency responders began CPR, then intubated her en route to Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Due to the extent of her injuries, which appeared to include head trauma and possible internal injuries, the woman was flown by medical helicopter to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, according to sheriff’s and fire reports.
The woman, identified as Pamela Pence, died Sunday morning at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler. Funeral arrangements are pending with West Oak Funeral Home.
Hopkins County and Miller Grove firefighters, and Hopkins County Emergency Medical Services personnel, along with Hopkins County Sheriff’s Cpl. Daniel Winn and deputies Heath Guy and Amanda Lovett, responded at the location. State troopers also responded, although according to Texas Department of Public Safety reports the troopers only assisted deputies at the scene.
