Nov 27, 2007 - Houses and yard are decorated, businesses and sometimes whole fields, too. Sometimes a touch of holiday decor is used to add a bit of Christmas spirit. Contests are held during parades and in communities judging the most attractive sites.
So, why not extend the festivities to include your park campsites, too? The Friends of Doctor’s Creek will be hosting Christmas in the Park at Doctor’s Creek Friday-Saturday, Dec. 14-15.
Families and businesses are encouraged to sponsor a campsite, resplendent with holiday cheer. As added incentives, those decorating their campsites Dec. 14-15 will have their site fees waived. Also, they’ll compete for prizes in family and business categories. Sites will be judged by visitors.
The camp has 42 spaces available for sponsorship, and each family or business will be responsible for decorating their space with a theme of their choosing. As another bonus, businesses will be allowed to place advertising within their space at no additional charge.
The general park entrance fee will be waived between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to allow all who want to enjoy the drive-through experience. Free hot dogs will also be provided by Friends of Doctor’s Creek.
Please help us by sponsoring a camping space. Families with RVs may park their RVs in their space and decorate them for the weekend, noted Gracie Young, Friends of Doctors Creek treasurer. This event has the potential to develop into a multi-weekend regional event that will bring great exposure to our state park and community.
