ABC Autoplex Toy Run gets rolling at 9 a.m. Saturday

From Staff Reports

Nov 9, 2007 - True motorcyclists will accept any excuse to ride with friends, and they’ve got a really good reason to do so Saturday.

That’s when the annual ABC Autoplex Toy Run will be held, beginning at 9 a.m.

Each rider needs only to bring a toy, which will later be given to less fortunate children, as an entry fee. The first bike will leave from ABC Autoplex — located on College Street just south of Interstate 30 — at 9 a.m., and the last bike is scheduled to return at 2 p.m. Lunch will be served, as well, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

The weather should be fairly cooperative. The temperature should be a little over 60 degrees at 9 a.m. and reach the lower 70s by noon, with a south wind around 5 mph.

Spokes for Hope, the local chapter of Christian Motorcyclists Association (www.cmausa.org) will be meeting at McDonald’s to get together as a group at 8:30 a.m., then ride to the toy run. Anyone who wants to ride with them is welcome to join.

Sponsors of the toy run are the News-Telegram, JEB Sales Banners & Signs, Super Handy Convenience Stores, Suddenlink Communications and Momentum Motor Sports & RV.
