Golden K Kiwanis Club treasurer Raymond Taylor (left) and past president Jim Tully stand next to the electric blue 2007 Dodge Ram SLT to be raffled off to raise money for the Sulphur Springs Public Library reading program, Sophomore of the Year Scholarship, elementary school supplies and other causes.

The club is giving away a 2007 Dodge Ram XLT pickup on December 22 at 4 p.m.  The club is only offering 2,000 tickets for the drawing, so you’d better act fast.

A large portion of the funds raised will be earmarked for local youth programs, said Jim Tully, past president. We fund programs like the Sophomore Scholarship, elementary school supplies for those who cannot afford them, and a summer reading program at the public library.

The electric blue quad cab pickup comes with a 4.7 liter V8 engine, power windows and locks, cruise control and a multispeed overdrive automatic transmission, according to the club’s press release.

The MSRP (manufacturer's suggested retail price) is over $30,000, said Raymond Taylor, the groups treasurer.

Taylor and Tully enjoy driving the truck around town to various events.

Well be collecting donations in the parking lots at Wal-Mart and Brookshires, and well be on the courthouse square and at some local restaurants, Tully said. "Im having such a good time doing this project. Kiwanis is all about serving children, and thats why were raising money.

Tickets are available from any member of the Golden Kiwanis Club. Tickets will also be available at Lone Star Dodge, Cooper Surveying, Guaranty Bond Bank, Alliance Bank and City National Bank.

If someone wants a ticket and cant get out to one of these places, they can call us, Tully said. Well make personal deliveries.

For tickets or more information, contact Jim Tully at 903-885-2254, Raymond Taylor at 903-340-1219 or Lone Star Dodge at 903-885-2600.
