May 31, 2007 - A fund has been set up at Alliance Bank to benefit the children of Tony and Kelly Scott.
Tony Eugene Scott, a field mechanic for M Hanna Construction for seven years, had been working out of town and was on his way home from West Texas to spend Mother's Day with his family when he was killed on Sunday morning, May 13, in a head-on collision, according to his wife, Kelly Scott.
Both Tony and Kelly Scott were born and raised in Sulphur Springs, and Kelly and their three children — 16-year-old Kaley Blount, 12-year-old Larret Scott and 8-year-old Kelsey Scott — still reside in the city.
Tony is the son of Joe and Vickie Sims, and Billy Scott and Linda, and grandson of Avon and Opal Scott. Kelly is the daughter of David and Ann Horn, and Mike and Ann Petty, and granddaughter of Rosemary Horn and Herbert Flora. Their families also reside in this area.
"We're doing as well as can be expected. We're just taking it one day at a time," Kelly said of herself and their children.
She said the fund set up at Alliance Bank could be used for the children, for any immediate expenses needed until all other financial arrangements are completed, or any emergency medical expenses should any arise, but will mostly be set aside as savings for the children's future college education.
Donations may be made in Tony Scott's honor at any Alliance Bank location to the account set up to benefit his children: Kelsey, a student at Travis Elementary School; Larrett, a student at Sulphur Springs Middle School; and Kaley, a student at Sulphur Springs High School. The account is set up in the name "Kelly Scott for the Scott Children."
