Smith, Taylor top Class of 2007 at Cumby High School

May 25, 2007 - The Cumby High School Senior Class will be honored tonight with a graduation ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. in the new Cumby gymnasium at Cumby ISD.
Two students were recently honored as the top graduates for the class. Jeffery Smith was named the valedictorian and Megan Taylor the salutatorian.
Smith will be graduating with a 5.16 weighted grade point average. He is the son of Denise and Jimmy Smith and brother of Larissa Smith.
He served in several leadership positions, including Beta Club officer and senior class officer. He was also the captain of the Robotics Team.
Smith also participated in athletic and academic competitions. He was on the baseball and basketball teams, and competed in National Ocean Science Bowl, One Act Play and other University Interscholastic League contests.
The valedictorian noted that his future plans include attending the University of North Texas in the fall.
Salutatorian Megan Taylor will graduate from Cumby High School with a 5.0 weighted GPA. She is the daughter of Kim Taylor and sister of Dylan Taylor.
Taylor was an active participant in the Senior Beta Club all four years of high school. She was also selected to serve as Beta Club president during her senior year. She also served as president of the senior class.
She was an active participant in academic competitions, including
National Ocean Science Bowl, Robotics team, UIL and One Act Play.
Taylor said she will be attending the University of North Texas in the fall.
