Adair named valedictorian, Anderson salutatorian at SB

May 24, 2007 - Sulphur Bluff  High School has announced Joshua Michael Ray Adair, Jeffrey Allen Anderson and Joshua Aaron Clanton as its top honor graduates.

Joshua Adair has been named the valedictorian for finishing with an overall  4.1878 high school grade point average. Adair is the son of Connie and William Grammar of Talco.

He has been involved in a number of extracurricular activities, including club membership and academic competition. He was a member of the local Future Farmers of America Chapter, as well as the Beta Club. He was also lauded as a regional spelling contender in University Interscholastic League competition.

Adair said that after graduation from Sulphur Bluff High School, he plans to attend college to begin pursuing a degree in audio engineering.

Jeff Anderson will finish second in his class, posting an overall 4.0907 grade point average on a weighted scale to earn the salutatorian title at SBHS. He is the son of Sarah and Phillip Anderson of Dike.

Anderson also is active in school clubs, and participated in academic and sports contests for the school. He served as  president of the school’s FFA chapter, as well as president of the senior class. He was a member of the Beta Club, baseball team and UIL spelling team.

After graduating from SBHS, he plans to attend college to pursue a degree.

Joshua Clanton finished third in the class with a 3.8497 GPA. He is the son of Marie Clanton of Dike and Craig and Connie Clanton of Pickton.

Clanton’s extra curricular activities included serving as reporter for the FFA chapter, and as a UIL contender in computer applications. He also was a member of the baseball and basketball teams.

The SBHS honor student’s plans after graduation including attending college to pursue a degree in ministry.

Sulphur Bluff school also recognized its top eighth grade graduates for their accomplishments. 

Travis Lee Allan was lauded as Sulphur Bluff’s 8th grade valedictorian. He will complete his eighth grade year with a 4.550 grade point average. 

Allan is the son of Bill Allan of Dike, and Yvonna and Jimmy Goldsmith of Saltillo.

The eighth grade salutatorian at Sulphur Bluff is Karissa Lynn Wolf. She will finish 8th grade with a 4.4750 GPA. She is the daughter of Raymond and Vicki Wolf of Dike.
