Ainsworth, Wagley top graduates at Miller Grove

May 17, 2007 - Miller Grove High School has named Corey Blake Ainsworth and Leslie Wagley the top students of this year's senior class, which will be honored with a graduation ceremony Friday, May 25.

Ainsworth was named valedictorian of the 17-member class after posting the top grade point average, a 3.94 on a 4.0 scale.

Ainsworth is the son of Gina and Scott Sewell of Sulphur Springs and Dale Ainsworth of Point, and grandson of C.B. and Pat Ainsworth of Point, Mary James of Denton, and Danny and Kathy Lynch.

Throughout his high school career, Ainsworth has been involved in numerous activities and organizations, including University Interscholastic League competition, National Society of High School Scholars and FFA. He served as president of the Miller Grove FFA chapter during his senior year.

Ainsworth plans to attend Texas A&M University-Commerce’s Inaugural College of Honors on a full four-year Academic/Housing Scholarship. He plans to major in finance in order to pursue a career in banking or a related field.

Leslie Wagley,  daughter of James and Le'Anne Wagley, was named the salutatorian of the Miller Grove High School Class of 2007. She will graduate with a 93.49 overall grade point average, placing her second out of 17.

She has attended Miller Grove school since the first grade, and participated in many activities over the last few years.

Beginning her freshman year, Wagley participated in varsity volleyball, basketball, softball and track. She served as captain of the basketball team for three years, and was named 1st Team All District in 2006 and 2nd Team All District in 2007 in basketball. 

Wagley has also been active in FFA and other extra-curricular activities. She served as secretary of Miller Grove FFA and from 2004-2004 served as the Paris District reporter. She also participated in livestock judging and ag mechanics for four years.

Beginning in June, she plans to attend the University of North Texas, where she will pursue a degree in business/finance-accounting.
