May 7, 2007 - The man alleged of indecency with a child at Wal-Mart one week ago was apprehended Monday morning. Titus County authorities took 40-year-old Stanley Charles McGinnis in custody on the second-degree felony warrant for indecency with a child by contact before 10 a.m. at Pilgrim’s Pride in Mount Pleasant, where he reportedly is employed, Sulphur Springs police said Monday morning.
McGinnis was alleged to have touched a 10-year-old girl at Wal-Mart Friday evening, April 27. Witnesses observed the offense and the police were quickly contacted.
Police released security photos of the suspect last Tuesday, asking for help identifying the suspect, then later released his name and information from a mug shot taken last August at Paris Police Department. He was arrested in Paris at that time for indecency with a child by contact after he touched a child inappropriately at the Wal-Mart in that city.
Aside from Paris Police Department, other law enforcement which assisted Sulphur Springs Police Sgt. Detective David Gilmore in the investigation were Texas Department of Public Safety, Titus County Sheriff’s Office, Morris County officials and Texas Ranger Phillip Kemp.
The case was filed with the district attorney’s office and a second-degree felony warrant issued Wednesday for McGinnis’ arrest for indecency with a child by contact. McGinnis is also noted to be wanted by Morris County authorities for an outstanding drug charge, Gilmore said.
The police investigator, upon notification that McGinnis had been apprehended Monday morning drove to Titus County for further investigation into the incident.
