Grand jury returns 44 indictments

June 27, 2007 - The Hopkins County grand jury, during its June session last week, approved 44 indictments against 34 people, including offenses such as aggravated assault, controlled substances, stalking, retaliation, burglary, credit card abuse and theft.
Hank Eugene Mills and Jerry Lee Miller were both indicted for possession of less than one gram of the controlled substance methamphetamine as well as fraudulent use or possession of another man's driver's license on March 17.
George Montel Wilson and Leslie Michele Brown were each indicted for possession of more than 5 pounds but less than 50 pounds of marijuana on Oct. 4, 2006.
Carie Lynn Butterfield and Apollo Gomez were both indicted for possession of 4 grams to 200 grams of cocaine and possession of more than 5 pounds but less than 50 pounds of marijuana on Nov. 12, 2006.
Brandon Jermon McQueen and Demond Leroy Thomas were both indicted for possession of between one and four grams of the controlled substance methylenedioxy methamphetamine on June 24, 2006.
William Kelly Vaughn was indicted for assault on a public servant. He was alleged on March 22 to have struck Special Crimes Unit Sgt. Harold McClure in the face.
Also indicted for offenses alleged to have occurred on March 22 were Toby Justin Cowley, Franklin Wayne Guinn and Richard Lee Johnson. They are alleged to have stolen a bumper-pull trailer bed, welder, cutting torch set and a rubber-made tool box with tools. The total loss to the property owner was valued between $1,500 and $20,000, making the offense a felony theft.
David Wayne Chance was indicted for burglary of a habitation and possession of a controlled substance. He was alleged on April 10, to have entered a residence from which items were stolen. The next day he was alleged to have been caught with more than 200 grams but less than 400 grams of the controlled substance methamphetamine.
Indicted for possession of more than 4 grams but less than 200 grams of the controlled substance cocaine and for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, both on July 30, 2006, was Victor James Butler.
Daymeon Delmond Johnson was indicted for possession of more than 5 pounds but less than 50 pounds of marijuana and for evading arrest on July 31, 2006. Johnson was alleged to have been in possession of the marijuana when he fled state Trooper Brian Worley, who attempted to detain him.
Donald Joseph Ballowe was also indicted for an offense alleged to have occurred on July 31, 2006. He was alleged to have been caught with less than one gram of methamphetamine in his possession.
William Bryan Bennett was indicted on two counts of theft. He is alleged in the first indictment to have stolen a riding lawn mower, air condition window unit and weat-eater from a woman. The second indictment alleges he stole a Ford F-350 pickup truck, which also belonged to the woman. Both offenses are alleged to have occurred on Oct. 27, 2006.
Two theft indictments were issued for Cody John Blackwelder. He is alleged on July 3, 2006, to have broken into St. James Catholic Church and Centro Cristiano De Adoracion church.
Eric Dale Bailey was indicted for forgery and failure to register as a sex offender. he was alleged on Sept. 6, 2006, to have written a check for $171.75 on a business account to a woman, "so it purported to be the act" of the woman, who indicated she didn't authorize the check. He also on Feb. 12, was alleged to have failed to register with Sulphur Springs Police Department within seven days of moving, per the terms of a conviction for aggravated sexual assault of a child.
William Shawn Bloyed was indicted for aggravated assault by either using or threatening to use a vehicle during an assault involving another man on July 15, 2006. Steven Dwayne Johnson was also indicted for aggravated assault. He is alleged on April 17, to have pointed a knife at a woman during an assault.
Scotty Wayne Blakley was indicted for driving while intoxicated with a male child passenger who was less than 15 years old on June 29, 2006.
Mindy Nicole Sims was indicted for credit card abuse. She is alleged to have use a man's MBNA credit card without his permission to purchase gasoline at Super Handy store on Nov. 1, 2005.
Erick Henry Barnes was indicted for stalking. He is alleged on Sept. 9, 2006, to have on more than one occasion engage in conduct a he knew a woman would find threatening. Christie Lee Bulin was indicted for retaliation. She is alleged to have threatened a female witness on April 17.
Also indicted in the recent session for possession of between 4 ounces and 5 pounds of marijuana were Stephen Paul Booker II, on July 14, 2006; and Sarah Jasamine Bland, July 19, 2006.
Michael Shawn Bishop was indicted for possession of transport of certain chemicals with intent to manufacture a controlled substance. He was alleged on Sept. 8, 2006, to have been transporting "super tech," which consists of starter fluid, muriatic acid and red phosphorus, all ingredients for manufacturing or "cooking" methamphetamine.
Other indictments issued for possession of controlled substances included: Denise Ann Tarpley, less than one gram of methamphetamine on Nov. 6, 2006; Daniel Todd Hicks, less than one gram of methamphetamine on July 24, 2006; Marcos Rodriguez, less than one gram of methamphetamine on July 23, 2006; Kristina Marie Davis, more than one gram but less than four grams of cocaine on Oct. 15, 2006; Billy Eugene Temple, at least 28 grams but less than 200 grams of the mixture dihdrocodeinone on Oct. 14, 2005; Dawn Marie Davison, less than one gram on methamphetamine on Jan. 16; and Billy Wayne Burden, less than one gram of methamphetamine on Sept. 3, 2006.
