June 12, 2007 - Como-Pickton trustees will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 for their regular monthly session in the High School library.
Among the curriculum and instructional reports the board is slated to hear are the CATE program and auxiliary sports. The Career and Technology Education director will give an overview of the program and present projections for the future of the program. Athletic Director Devin Gabbard will report on future planning information which could include a recommendation that the boys and girls auxiliary sports, soccer and powerlifting, and UIL golf be discontinued.
The board will also be asked to consider several financial matters: monthly expenditures for June, auditor's contract, proposed stipends and proposed salary scales for the 2007-2008 school year. The board tabled the proposed extra duty stipend scale at a previous meeting but will be asked to again revisit the issue at tonight’s meeting. Superintendent Sandra Billodeau is slated to give reports on transfer policies and "information on plan to prevent potential fund deficit to be sent to TEA."
Como-Pickton school trustees will also hear a report on tax collection and will be asked to incorporate Texas Association of School Boards Update 80 into district policies. Assistant Superintendent Lydia Walden's will give a report on cafeteria cost analysis. Any personnel items which have arisen since the last board meeting and are being presented for board consideration Tuesday night, will be heard during an executive session at the end of the meeting. They also, according to section 551.071 of the Education Code, can consult with their attorney during that time as well.
Following that closed session, the board will reconvene to take action on any items which were discussed.
