2 school districts to address budgets in meetings this week

July 30, 2007 - The board of trustees for two local school districts will meet this week in separate called meetings which include budget work sessions.
Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. tonight at SSISD Administration Building.
The agenda for that session calls for the board to select a company to provide student accident insurance. They will consider the $50,556 bid from Baucom/Premier, the $39,981 bid from Baker/Plan 4 and $46,981 bid from Baker/Plan 3. Each bid includes up tot $25,000 medical benefits. Baucom/Premier currently provides the service. The board will also consider approving entering into an operational procedures agreement for a TIPS (The Inter-local Purchasing System) Employee Benefits Cooperative. It’s designed to provide improved benefits, reduce costs and pool risks, and to define and clarify rules, liability and methods regarding the cooperative.
A budget workshop then an executive session will follow the action items segment of SSISD board meeting.
Como-Pickton CISD Board of Trustees on Tuesday will meet at 6 p.m. in the high school library for a special budget workshop conducted by Fred Wilkerson.
The board at 7 p.m. Tuesday will consider approving the student handbook, then go into executive session to consider personnel matters. The board may also consult with their attorney during the closed session.
