Internet registration under way for PJC-Sulphur Springs fall classes

From Staff Reports

July 26, 2007 - The staff at the Paris Junior College-Sulphur Springs Center is gearing up for fall registration and fall classes that begin on Aug. 27, according to Director Linda Bennett.

Being a full-service campus with associate degree plans and technical/vocational programs, we want to make every effort to get our students started on the right course as they begin their higher education experience, Bennett said.

Bennett said online registration is currently under way at On-campus registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, and continue through Aug. 23.

The Sulphur Springs Center provides admissions assistance, financial aid counseling and advisers, and administers the state-required placement testing to the approximately 800 students who attend classes at the campus.

The center also offers flexible scheduling options for students who work or care for families while going to college.

That is why we have both day and night classes and have added hybrid classes (part classroom and part Internet) that offer working and commuting students a better schedule option and less driving, Bennett said.

Among the 150 or more courses offered at the Center this fall are education courses for prospective teachers. These courses will transfer to a university that will lead to a bachelor’s degree and a teacher’s certificate.

Also included on the schedule are courses in criminal justice, drafting, and all core courses that are transferable and lead to a bachelor’s degree. The Center also offers health occupations courses. Computer technology, medical office technology and several other technical programs are on the schedule, which is available at the Center or on the PJC Web page.

We recommend new students make application and begin their admissions process as early as possible, Bennett said.

To schedule an advising session, call 903-885-1232 or go by the campus office at 1202 West Houston St. in Sulphur Springs.
