July 19, 2007 - It's time once again for the Yantis Catfish Day Parade and Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry, to be held Saturday, July 21, beginning at 5 p.m.
Each year the event has grown bigger and better, according to Mayor Jerry Miller, and this year's fourth annual festivities look to supercede all others.
The parade will leave from the Yantis Community Center, led by Grand Marshal coach Larry Tucker, followed by a variety of decorated floats, classic cars and tractors along with other motorized and non-motorized means of transportation.
Immediately following the parade, Yantis volunteer firemen will host their annual donation-only fish fry to raise money to purchase a "jaws of life" rescue tool for the fire department.
The fish fry, with desserts and all the trimmings, will be set up in the Yantis school cafeteria. It will be held rain or shine.
