Pickton-Pine Forest VFD raising money for truck
From Staff Reports
July 18, 2007 - Residents of Pickton and Pine Forest communities shouldn't be surprised if they hear an unscheduled knock on the door one day soon. It'll be representatives of the Pickton-Pine Forest Volunteer Fire Department offering portrait packages to help raise funds to finish outfitting a new rescue truck.
The fire department will be selling family portraits for $30 each. This offer is for an 11-inch by 14-inch portrait through JBT Marketing, Inc., and is actually a $65 value, according to Mark Sustaire, P-PFVFD chief. Checks made out to Pickton-Pine Forest Volunteer Fire Department or cash will be accepted by the VFD representatives. Those making purchases will be given a coupon to redeem at the Pickton Community Center in a few weeks, when portraits are scheduled.
"We, the volunteers would like to say thank you for your past support," Sustaire wrote in a prepared letter for residents, which was also signed from P-PFVFD secretary-treasurer Joe Pat Jordan and assistant Chief Billy Bryant. “We always need your help. We are conducting a fund raising drive to complete a rescue first response truck, that is being built. We would appreciate your support of this most worthwhile project. ... We would like to see 100 percent participation. Remember, we are here to serve you. It is through the efforts of people such as you that make this life saving service possible. Thanking you in advance for the volunteers.”
