July 8, 2007 - Sulphur Springs Independent School District trustees Monday are expected to designate three days over the course of the next month and a half during which they will discuss and shape the budget for fiscal year 2007-2008.

School administrators are proposing that Mondays, July 30, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27 be designated for budget workshops. The budget workshop on Aug. 13, would accompany the regular August board meeting. The July 30 and Aug. 27 sessions would have be special called meetings.

In other business Monday night, the SSISD Board of Education is also slated to hear from Assistant Superintendent Randy Reed policy changes as recommended by Texas Association of School Board based on Update 80.

Also, they will hear any recommendations for changes or additions to the secondary student handbook, which affects middle school and high school students; and an update on construction projects, particularly those at high school.

Submitted for board approval are regular contract agreements, particularly for contract services with Region VIII Education Service Center; bids for food and non-food supplies; a resolution and inter-local agreement for a food service purchasing cooperative with Region VIII; and selection of a delegate and alternate to attend the TASB Delegate Assembly, to be held Sept. 29 in Dallas with Sept. 28-30 as TASB/TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) Convention dates.

Any personnel or real property matters presented for board discussion or approval–such as hirings, firings, resignations or other personnel matters–will be conducted during executive session.

Following the closed session, the board will then reconvene in open session to take action on any items discussed during the executive session prior to adjourning the meeting.

The SSISD regular board of trustees meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Monday, July 9, in the board room of SSISD Administration Building, located at 630 Connally St.
