July 5, 2007 - Sulphur Springs firefighters are still investigating a blaze which destroyed part of a single-wide mobile home Wednesday night.
No one was injured, but the fire’s cause is being considered "suspicious" pending further investigation, according to Sulphur Springs Fire Investigator David James.
The fire was reported at 8:41 p.m. to Sulphur Springs emergency dispatchers. When Sulphur Springs firefighters arrived at they location, they reported being able to see flames coming from a back room of a single-wide mobile home at 1520 West Industrial Drive.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the back bedroom, but most of the rest of the mobile home sustained heat and smoke damage, according to James.
The lone occupant, a woman, had escaped from the home by the time the firefighters arrived. She was reported to be uninjured and was able to stay with a friend for the night.
Although firefighters remained at the scene until 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, they still had yet to determine what started the fire as of Thursday morning.
