Benefit for Sheriff’s Posse member Friday
From Staff Reports
July 5, 2007 - A fund raiser benefit for Gary "G.W." Moon will be held Friday, July 6, beginning at 6 p.m. in Hopkins County Regional Civic Center Arena. Donations may be made at the door.
Moon is currently undergoing treatment for liver failure and is waiting to be put on the liver transplant list. He has no insurance due to previous health problems. His friends, former co-workers and family are hosting the benefit to raise money for medical expenses.
Friday night's activities will include a hamburger supper, live and silent auctions and a raffle for a Benelli Nova .12-gauge shotgun. Tickets are available for $1 each for the shotgun raffle by contacting Zane Darling at 903-348-6455 or Pat Johnson at 903-366-6928, from the receptionist at Hopkins County Sheriff's Office during regular business hours or at the Friday fund raiser. The shotgun has a 3 1/2 inch synthetic stock and is solid black in color.
Items donated for the live and silent auctions range from a vacation trip packages, tack and tools to toys, home decor and other items. More than 80 items have been donated.
Also, as a special treat during Friday's fundraiser, Monty Tipps and Main Street Band will be providing entertainment with their unique musical flavor.
White wooden crescent moon yard signs with “G.W.” painted on them are also available for donations of $15 or $25 each, depending on size. Contact Zane Darling or Pat Johnson for signs.
Monetary donations to assist Moon may also be made to the "expenses for G.W. (Gary) Moon Family" at City National Bank in Sulphur Springs.
