July 1, 2007 - Local authorities put two men in jail Friday. Each was alleged to have committed a violence assault against a woman earlier this week.
Police obtained a warrant Friday morning for the 30-year-old man alleged to have assaulted his 66-year-old grandmother on Wednesday. Sulphur Springs Police Officer Ronny Doss and Sgt. Byron Irving served Bryan Scott Tennison at his Carter Street residence at 9:33 a.m. Friday with the first-degree felony warrant for injury to an elderly person.
Officials and emergency responders first became involved with Tennison when they, along with emergency responders, were called to his grandmothers Park Circle Drive residence at about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday in reference to a call for assistance for a person having a seizure. When they arrived, both Tennison and his 66-year-old grandmother were laying on the floor amid broken glass, pictures and furniture, which officials noted as indicators a disturbance had occurred at the location.
The woman told officials her grandson struck her in the face, choked her around the neck and kicked her in the chest while he was having a seizure. The woman had apparent injuries on the face, including a heavily bruised puffy, swollen eye and busted lip. He had a cut on his hand. Both were taken to the hospital.
Tennison reportedly went to his grandmother’s residence to get cigarettes from her. He sat down and began acting strangely. She said he appeared to have a seizure. He claimed he felt sickly. When she approached, he jerked, struck her, then followed her as she retreated, injuring her. After she was knocked to the floor he allegedly kicked her in the chest.
The second arrest was made Friday afternoon, when sheriff’s deputies got word the man accused of sexually assaulting his former girlfriend was on Helm Lane. They went to the location and deputy Amanda Lovett arrested Reginald Dwayne Lee, 36, on a second-degree felony warrant for sexually assaulting the woman on Thursday.
Lee is alleged around 2 p.m. Thursday to have approached the 37-year-old victim, who he had had lived with for 18-months until the pair split up 10 days before.
He reportedly entered an empty Helm Lane apartment she had been tasked with cleaning. He reportedly forced her further into the apartment then raped the victim. He then was alleged to have prevented her from leaving, holding sharp objects to her neck, while he talked to a Greenville probation officer for 10 minutes on his cell phone. The cell phone was left at the scene, and confirmed that he had called the Greenville probation office Friday at that time.
Police took the report Thursday, and Friday filed the paper work which resulted in a warrant being issued for Lee’s arrest on the second-degree felony sexual assault.
