Relay slates 1st team captains meeting Thurs.
From Staff Reports

Jan. 22, 2007 - Hopkins County Relay for Life is still 4 months away, but that doesn’t mean it’s too soon to start planning.

It takes months of planning and hard work on the part of relay teams and the annual relay committee to ensure each year goes off without a hitch.

While the relay committee has had positive response so far, more teams are needed for the 2007 RFL to ensure the May event is a success.

On Thursday, the first team captains meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lake Pointe Church, located between Brookshire’s and Blockbuster.

But it's not just for teams that have already signed on — anyone interested in forming a team is encouraged to be at the meeting, as are cancer survivors who want to take part in the walk, as well as sponsors.

This is our first Team Captains meeting and we are still in need of teams, so its not too late for anyone who is interested in having a team to register, said Tony Aguilar, Relay co-chair. "Also, anyone who is interested in being a sponsor of Relay For Life may come. We will have lunch for everyone and information about how to Relay. We would also like to extend an invitation to any survivors who have not registered yet, to come by and have lunch with us and get registered."

For more information, contact Aguilar at 903-582-2208, or any of the Relay committee members: Mynder Kelly at 903-439-6399, Cindy Smith at 903-945-5050, or Mynder Nash at 903-885-663.
