Decision on superintendent at Yantis expected Jan. 22
From Staff Reports

Jan. 17, 2007 - Yantis residents will have to wait until Monday night to learn whether or not Harold Cowley will continue as the superintendent for the district.

Cowley met with the board on Tuesday night during a special meeting, but no final decisions was made.

Cowley had told the board last week that, after much consideration, he planned to once again retire, effective immediately. However, after an outpouring of support from the community Cowley began to reconsider his decision.

A number of community members who turned out Tuesday at the Yantis Independent School District meeting were in favor of Cowley staying at the school as superintendent.

Following the session, another meeting was called for Monday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria to further those discussions regarding the superintendent's evaluation and contract. A final decision regarding Cowley is expected to be made following that executive session.
