Jan. 16, 2007 - The National Weather Service this morning issued a winter weather advisory for this evening for areas south of Hopkins County. Light freezing rain, sleet or snow up to a quarter of an inch are possible as close as Interstate 20, including the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The rest of North Texas could be in for wintry precipitation Wednesday through Sunday.
"The best chances appear to be Friday and Saturday as an upper level disturbance moves across the Southern Plains," forecasters wrote in the advisory.
There's a 20 percent chance of snow and sleet Wednesday, mixing with rain after noon. Chances of rain are pegged at 30 percent Thursday, 40 percent Thursday night and Friday, and a 30 percent chance of rain, snow or freezing rain Saturday.
Daytime highs are expected to be above freezing each day, but overnight lows are forecast around the freezing mark for each day.
