Golden K Kiwanis Club of Sulphur Springs is giving away the 2007 Dodge Ram XLT pickup on Saturday at 4 p.m.  The club has only offered 2,000 tickets for the drawing, and time is rapidly running out to make a donation and have a shot at the prize.

The money raised will largely go to a worthwhile cause: The children of Hopkins County.

A large portion of the funds raised will be earmarked for local youth programs, said Jim Tully, past president of Golden K. We fund programs like the Sophomore Scholarship, elementary school supplies for those who cannot afford them, and a summer reading program at the public library.

The electric blue quad cab pickup comes with a 4.7 liter V8 engine, power windows and locks, cruise control and a multispeed overdrive automatic transmission. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is over $30,000, said Raymond Taylor, the group’s treasurer.

Taylor and Tully have been camped out with the truck on the downtown square this week selling tickets. Tickets are also available from any member of the Golden Kiwanis Club, as well as Lone Star Dodge, Cooper Surveying, Guaranty Bond Bank, Alliance Bank and City National Bank.

If someone wants a ticket and cant get out to one of these places, they can call us, Tully said. Contact Tully at 903-885-2254, Taylor at 903-340-1219 or Lone Star Dodge at 903-885-2600.
