SSMS cheerleaders bring home Camp Champion trophy from Arlington

Two invited to Houston parade

Aug 12, 2007 - The Sulphur Springs Middle School Cheerleaders came away from the Universal Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp in Arlington with several trophies and ribbons, and had two girls who were invited participate in the Thanksgiving Parade in Houston later this year.

Cheerleaders (front) Sydni Young, Kendall Parks, Skyler Sinclair, Gracie Cable, (middle) Lindsey McCormack, Katie Dougan, Victoria Calhoun, Katie Cooper, Andrea Marquez, Alex Darden, (top) Abby Grand-Lienard, Tristyn Rutledge and Ayana Taylor received a superior ribbon each day, a superior team trophy and the camp champion trophy for freshmen and below at the Universal Cheerleaders Association Cheer Camp held recently in Arlington.

Skyler Sinclair and Ayana Taylor were selected as All Star Cheerleaders, an honor which also garnered an invitation to the Thanksgiving Parade in Houston.

Sinclair and Taylor, along with fellow SSMS cheerleaders Sydni Young, Kendall Parks, Gracie Cable, Lindsey McCormack, Katie Dougan, Victoria Calhoun, Katie Cooper,  Andrea Marquez, Alex Darden, Abby Grand-Lienard, Tristyn Rutledge, collectively earned a superior ribbon each day of camp evaluation. The cheer squad also went on to receive a superior team trophy and the Camp Champion trophy for freshmen and below.

Also lauded was SSMS mascot Becca Wilson. She won three superior ribbons, one excellent and one outstanding ribbon, as well as a superior trophy for her efforts as Willie the Wildcat.
