Sept. 1, 2006 -- The Arbala community will be the latest to join in a movement to beautify Hopkins County when a meeting is held Thursday, Sept. 7, in the community center to discuss the county's clean-up program, along with environmental concerns and ways of getting communities involved in the effort.
Also to be discussed will be legal issues surrounding what constitutes illegal dumping and the penalties involved in violating the county ordinances, and laws on trash dumping.
County environmental officers Jerry Pierce and Holly Rosamond, Precinct 1 County Commissioner Beth Wisenbaker, and Hopkins County Agriculture Extension Agent Larry Spradlin will be be available to respond to questions regarding the county-wide program.
The county-wide project began with a meeting in May in the home of Wyvonne McDaniel, who was later appointed by county commissioners to chair the beautification project.
Anyone who is interested in the project is invited to attend the meeting.
