|From Staff Reports|
Kickoff: Wednesday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m.,
Hopkins County Memorial Hospital Hospital lobby
Tree Lighting: Thursday, Dec. 7, 6 p.m., in front of hospital
This year is the 11th anniversary of the Lights of Life campaign. The Hopkins County Health Care Foundation will be sponsoring the campaign again this year. Since 1996, the first year of the campaign, more than $136,000 has been raised to support various programs at the hospital. As a contributor to the campaign, the donor can designate where they wish their money to be used. You may choose from the following hospital programs:
- C.A.R.E. Unit
The Gardens at Memorial, a grounds beautification project that will provide a peaceful place for patients, their visitors, hospital staff, and the community to go to enjoy the outdoors and improve their health.
Lights of Life is an annual program where individuals can make a donation of $25 or more in honor or memory of someone special. Donations of $25 or more will be represented by the lights on the Christmas tree that will be displayed in front of the hospital during the month of December. Because no gift is too small and all gifts make a difference, additional opportunities for giving have been added. The community and local businesses are invited to get involved at any level.
- $2,500 — Diamond Sponsor
- $1,000 – Platinum Sponsor
- $500 — Gold Sponsor
- $250 – Silver Sponsor
- $100 – Friend Sponsor
- $25 – Tree “Light” Sponsor
The community is invited to bring the entire family to the official tree lighting on December 7th where there will be entertainment provided by the Northeast Texas Choral Society and the Hopkins County Physicians. There will be refreshments and a special visit from Santa Claus.
Join in the fun as we celebrate eleven successful years of the Lights of Life campaign. For additional information call Jackie Thornton at the Health Care Foundation, 903-438-4799.
Lights of Life Gala Tea
On Thursday, Oct. 19, the Health Care Foundation at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital hosted an Appreciation Tea for the 2006 Lights of Life Gala committee and the physicians’ wives.
Since January, the Gala committee has been planning for the 1st Annual Lights of Life Gala, which will be held December 8 at The Lodge. The evening will include a reception, a dinner, a live auction and dancing to music provided by Dallas band Class Act.
Through sponsorship support and the $100-per-person ticket price, the Foundation hopes to raise $100,000. The Foundation has announced that the funds raised through the Gala will go to build Phase I of The Gardens at Memorial, which is a grounds beautification project that will provide a peaceful place for patients, their visitors, hospital staff and the community to go to enjoy the outdoors and improve their health.
To show their support of the Gala, Peggy Dietze, a representative from the former Hopkins-Franklin Co. Medical Auxiliary, presented Gala Chair Micky Masters Barnett with a $5,000 check. Individuals, local businesses and hospital vendors are all joining together to help the Gala committee and the Foundation reach their $100,000 goal.
The Gala is a new event that has been added to the annual Lights of Life tree lighting campaign that is held every year. For more information about the Gala, call Jackie Thornton, Health Care Foundation director, at 903-438-4799.
