Higher Education Center slates continuing education classes

Oct. 18, 2006 - Want to expand your business acumen, learn more about computers or caring for children, or perhaps shift gears to a new career? The Sulphur Springs Higher Education Center has scheduled continuing education classes for the month of November that can do just that, according to Linda Bennett, SSHEC director.

Business

�How to Sell to the Government� will meet from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, Nov. 3. Participants will learn the basics of government contracting at the federal, state, and local level.

�Changing Your Mindset to Make Money� will show small business owners how to save their sanity and business life while significantly increasing employee satisfaction and profits. This class meets from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3.

�Patent, Trademark and Copyright Laws� will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday, Nov. 17. Learn how to register a copyright, select and register a trademark, and how to evaluate creative products for patent protection. Internet resources will be included as well as how to avoid infringements when using the Internet.

The “Invention Commercialization” seminar will help you determine the market size, the demand for your product, and the best method of making and distributing the product. The seminar meets 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17.


Truck Driver Training

First Seat provides a 200-hour course that enables students to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to take the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) exams. Students will be Department of Transportation (DOT) certified upon successful completion of the class. Child Care and Development

Child Care Professional development is training for child care employees and directors and meets licensing education requirements. This training is relevant to teachers in public schools and churches who care for children up to twelve years of age. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 4.


Computer for Senior Adults (55+)

�Surfing the Web� will meet from 9 a.m. to 12 noon each Friday, Nov. 3, through Dec. 1. This class offers introduction to the Internet, including e-mail, home pages, and how to perform basic research to address company/business needs.
