Oct. 5, 2006 - Sulphur Springs drug interdiction officer Jason Ricketson arrested two Indianapolis, Ind., residents and confiscated 19 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop just after 9 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Ricketson said he stopped the car for a traffic violation, and while talking with both occupants, noticed them to be nervous and stories that did not match or add up, prompting him to ask for permission to search the car.

When both refused, Ricketson brought in "Officer Barry," one of the city's drug dogs, to check the vehicle.

After getting a positive response from the canine, Ricketson found the illegal weed secreted in a duffel bag in the trunk of the car.

George Montel Wilson, 32, and Leslie Michelle Brown, 35, were released from Hopkins County Jail Thursday morning after posting $15,000 bond each on the felony possession charges.

Police said it was an apparent coincidence the pair were driving a dark blue 2006 Dodge Charger that was quite similar in appearance to a car that eluded officers on a recent high-speed chase. The pursuit extended from the Brashear area to Sulphur Springs, Como, Saltillo, and later Mount Vernon when pursuing officers finally lost sight of the car's tail lights last week.
