Jan. 11, 2006 - The annual Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Membership Banquet is quickly approaching, and so are the deadlines to get in nominations for Third Annual Caregiver of the Year Award, Woman of the Year Award, Small Business of the Year Award, Large Business of the Year Award, and Citizen of the Year Awards to be presented during the event.
Friday is the cutoff to get in applications to Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce Workforce Development Committee nominating businesses for Small Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year awards.
Large businesses must have 51 or more employees and small businesses 50 or less employees. Nominations should be made for businesses which exhibit outstanding community involvement in civic, church, educational, benevolent, humanitarian or other types if community service.
Nomination forms for small and large business of the year are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, 1200 Houston St., and may be returned to the chamber by fax, (903) 885-6515; or mailed to the Chamber at P.O. Box 357, Sulphur Springs, TX 75483-0347. All nominations must be in by Jan. 13 to be considered for the application to be considered.
Nominations for citizen of the year may be sent to Echo Publishing Co., P.O. Box 598, Sulphur Springs, TX 75683-0598.
The deadline for the Third Annual Caregiver of the Year Award will be accepted by the Pilot Club of Sulphur Springs through Friday, Jan. 27.
To qualify as a nominee, a person should perform voluntary caregiver service for one or more individuals for no compensation. Nominees providing care to an individual with brain-related disorders, including Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s diseases and and others, will be given special consideration for the award. Other qualifications require the nominee be a resident of Hopkins County or provide care to one or more Hopkins County residents.
Restrictions prevent nominees from being a member of Pilot Club or Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce during the year in which they are nominated.
A personal narrative of the caregiver must be submitted with the nomination. Information that should be included is the type care provided, how long the nominee has been a caregiver, for whom they provide care, how the nominee meets the criteria for the award and why the person submitting the nomination feels the nominee is deserving of the award.
Nominations for Caregiver of the Year should be mailed to Pilot Club, P.O. Box 133, Sulphur Springs, TX 75483. They should be received no later than Jan. 27.
Beta Sigma Phi will continue accepting nominations for Hopkins County’s Woman of the Year award until Jan. 28.
Nominees for Woman of the Year must first be a Hopkins County resident. Also, selection will be made based on the nominee’s community and civic involvement through volunteer work or church activities.
A letter outlining a nominee’s qualifications for the award can be sent to Woman of the Year, 212 Helm Lane, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482. Please make sure all nominations are posted in time for them to be received by the Jan. 28 deadline.
