Feb. 28, 2006 - Sulphur Springs Middle School will take advantage of Texas Public Schools Week to host a fund raiser to not only help promote literacy, but also to help generate funds for the purchase of classroom materials and for the campus yearbook projects.
The Scholastic Book Fair will be held daily from 7:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 6-10, as well as a special family night during the campus PTO meeting and open house Tuesday, March 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the middle school.
The book fair will feature a wide range of age-appropriate books for young teens and adults, including mystery and adventure novels, fantasy trilogies, sports guides, cookbooks, and the latest bestsellers from more than 150 publishers, according to SSMS Cat Pride Yearbook adviser Wende Holland.
“The Scholastic Book Fair helps promote literacy and reading, while at the same time raising money for much-needed school resources,” Holland said.
Those attending the book fair will notice a posted Classroom Wish List which features books teachers have earmarked for their classroom libraries, should anyone wish to purchase the named books to donate to classrooms.
The school will also accept sponsorships from businesses or organizations interested in making a donation. Businesses or groups seeking to make donations should contact Holland at the school at 903-885-7741.
